Best Western Plains Motel Review: What to Expect
In this Best Western Plains Motel review, I will cover the five things you must know before booking your stay: location, rooms, amenities, staff and service, and value for money. With over a decade of experience working at a hotel front desk, I have developed a keen eye for hospitality and service quality.
This review aims to provide a comprehensive and honest assessment to help you make an informed decision for your trip.
Here’s our rating: Overall 4.5/5 – Highly Recommended
Note: This review reflects our stay in Wall, South Dakota. Hotel amenities, rates, and services may change over time, so it’s always worth checking current information before booking.
1. Location
One of the biggest advantages of staying at the Best Western Plains Motel is its prime location. Situated in Wall, SD, it provides easy access to local dining options, shops and attractions. We chose to stay here because of its proximity to Badlands National Park, a key destination on our itinerary. The hotel is also conveniently located near other notable places such as the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site and Wall Drug Store.
Despite arriving late at night, we found the location easy to access. Parking was almost fully occupied. We had a bit of a challenge to find a spot and some cars parked on the main road.
2. Rooms
Our room was clean, with comfortable beds and fully functional air conditioning. The room’s cabin-like look added a cozy charm. We booked a room with double beds.

It had all the necessary amenities, including a microwave and mini-fridge.

The bathroom was clean and stocked with basic necessities. A lovely welcome note on the bed added a personal touch to our stay.

We were assigned a room on the 2nd (top) floor, which was very quiet. Note that staying on the 2nd floor requires using stairs, as there are no elevators, and all entrances are exterior.

One convenient feature was the sink being outside the bathroom, which was useful for multiple people getting ready simultaneously. The shower had good water pressure. The only downside was that the lighting in the room was a bit dim.

3. Amenities
The hotel offers a range of amenities, although we didn’t use most of them due to our short stay. There are both indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub and a gym available for guests. The pool and hot tub are located in a separate building in the parking lot, which also houses the breakfast area in the morning.

The breakfast spread included pancakes, pastries, sausage, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and fruits. The breakfast area includes both indoor and outdoor seating by the pool.

They also have a business centre, but we did not use it. The WiFi was fast and reliable.

One important note is that the hotel does not have elevators. It is a two-story building, and hauling heavy bags to the second floor could be difficult. We were assigned to a second-floor room but didn’t have heavy or bulky items, so it was manageable.
4. Staff and Service
The breakfast attendant was particularly attentive, even approaching us at our table to check if we needed anything. The check-in and check-out processes were smooth and quick. The front desk staff was friendly too.

5. Value for Money
Our stay at Best Western Wall was brief but great. The combination of its convenient location, comfortable rooms and attentive service made it a great value for money. The hotel was packed, likely due to its close proximity to Badlands National Park, but it remained quiet at night.
Despite the parking challenges and lack of elevators, the overall experience was positive, and we would recommend this hotel for anyone needing a comfortable place to rest after a long journey.
